Vern Moen (born January 19, 1980 in Tarzana, California) is an American film director, producer, cinematographer, editor, music video director, and owner of Long Beach Film Company in Long Beach, CA.〔http://www.longbeachfilmcompany.com/about/〕〔https://myspace.com/article/2014/02/04/artist-of-the-day-vern-moen-director-of-foster-the-peoples-video-coming-of-age〕 Moen went to film school and then, being broke, moved into a 1973 Winnebago with a friend and started living on the streets of Los Angeles as they looked for ways to break into the film industry.〔 After meeting the band Cold War Kids in college, Moen began documenting the bands rise, ultimately filming a majority of their visuals. In 2010, Vern joined the Plastiki expedition as the documentary filmmaker, sailing across the Pacific Ocean from San Francisco, CA to Sydney, Australia over the course of 4 months. The journey was turned into Plastiki and the Material of the Future, a feature documentary film that premiered at Telluride Mountain Film Festival in 2012.
